Both Trip and Tanner are excellent ranch and trial stock dogs. Yet, they both have off- switches and are clear minded-thinkers. They are both biddable and quiet. So, they are easy to live with.
Trip is hips – good, elbows-normal, eyes-normal, DNA clear by parentage for both HSF4 cataracts and MDR1 drug sensitivity
In the 2012/2013 run for the finals, Trip was #8 cattle, #11 ducks and #13 sheep. In the actual Finals competition, he ended up #1 Sheep & #8 ducks, but did not make it into the final round for cattle. Linda says with her bad knees, she was wary of the Cattle Mudfest, so she retired. In the 2013/2014 run for the finals, Trip was #12 cattle, #3 ducks and #6 sheep. In the actual Finals competition, he ended up #1 ducks, #2 cattle, #5 sheep and High Combined. Linda claims the listings on Trip's trialing history page are his complete trialing history. So, he made it into finals with limited trialing. In the 2014/2015 run for the Finals, Trip ended up #3 cattle, #10 ducks & #5 sheep, which once again earns him an invitation to Finals. At the 2015 ASCA stockdog finals in Shelbyville, Tenessee, Trip was 5th in cattle, 7th in ducks, and 11th on sheep and was (unofficially) 4th in combined score. (And he wasn't feeling very well at Shelbyville.)
This is some of what Linda has to say about Trip:
Trip is a thinking dog and quite mellow most of the time. He will go between the stock and fence, has good savvy and work ethic and stock ethic. He can be left alone with the stock. He definitely has an off switch. Not a barker or trouble maker, gets along well with all my dogs and people, great temperament. No noise shyness issues. Not shy. He will now protect the house when folks come over. He barks and will protect me but if I say things are ok, he is fine. He is athletic. VERY biddable!
Trip’s father qualified MVA at Nationals when just 2 years old and Trip’s paternal grandfather ( WTCH Farnham's Blue Foster RTDsc CD RS-O JS-O GS-O) was THE Most Versatile Aussie (#1) at 2000 ASCA Nationals. Trip’s maternal grandfather was ASCA National Finals Champion (Sheep and Ducks 2004, Cattle 2005) HOF WTCH HTCH Twin Oaks Winslow Breeze DNA-VP CDX PATDcs RTDcs JS-N RS-N RV-O HRDIIIs HTDIIIsd HXAsd.
